Apply for a travel document

You can apply for a document to travel outside the UK. You can do this if you are not British and cannot use or get a passport from your national authorities.

From 29 February 2020, if you do not have a valid biometric residence permit (BRP), you will automatically apply for one as part of this application.

You must pay online to complete your application. We do not accept cheques, postal orders or cash payments.

You should not apply for a travel document if you:

We will not send travel documents or biometric residence permits to hostels, hotels, or PO Box addresses.

You will be able to save your application and come back to it another time if you need to. If you are inactive for 25 minutes you will be automatically logged out.

How we use your data

The Home Office will use the personal information you provide to consider your application. We may also share your information with other public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas.
