Apply to settle in the UK - HM Forces category

Use this form to apply to settle in the UK as a discharged member of HM Forces, or as a partner or child of a serving or discharged member of HM Forces.

HM Forces means a member of the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force and includes a person who was a member of HM Forces but was discharged within the period of 2 years prior to the date of this application.

If you are applying as a partner or child, we recommend that you read the guidance on transitional arrangements so that you apply in the correct category of leave.

You will be able to add your partner and/or any children if they are applying as your dependants.

If you are applying as a partner of an HM Forces member, only children you have parental responsibility for can apply with you on the same application form. If the HM Forces member has other children, they should apply on their own application form.

Before you apply

Check your eligibility before you apply. If you are eligible to apply you will find guidance on how to complete your application and the evidence you need to provide within the online application.

This application includes an application for a biometric residence permit (BRP).

How long it takes you to complete the application will depend on your particular circumstances. You will be able to save your application and come back to it at another time if you need to.

If you are inactive for 25 minutes you will be automatically logged out.

Biometric information

As part of the application process, you are also required to apply for a biometric immigration document, commonly known as a biometric residence permit (BRP).
